This is particularly the case for Venezuelan immigrants in Ecuador, sparking frustration among workers. Worker protests in the past year demanding better pay, working conditions and safety protocols have had some impact, with several platforms raising salaries, providing essential gear and compensation schemes for Covid-stricken workers.
