Grubhub drivers say app change eats into tips, jeopardizing a usually generous season

Recent changes to the Grubhub app that disincentivizes customers from tipping couriers have led to frustration among workers, who have taken a massive hit in their earnings in the conventionally tip-heavy holiday season. Grubhub has started charging customers service fees to cover the costs of Prop-22-mandated social protections for workers. While the app used to allow customers to tip delivery workers between 10 and 25% of the bill amount, it now lets customers add an 'optional' tip, setting the default tip amount to zero.
