Workers in the service industry who have lost their jobs or large portions of their income are turning to sites like Patreon and streaming services like Twitch to offer up their services and earn an income. Some have dubbed this the 'passion economy' as enterprising workers are seemingly enabled by technology to make money off of doing what they love - unlike gig work where you have to provide the service stipulated (driving or food delivery etc).
