The pandemic is fueling the private tutoring industry
Pandemic learning pods are becoming a popular option for groups of families in the same neighbourhood to hire private group tutors to assist children with online learning. Care.com and private tutoring agencies have been quick to respond to this demand. On top of concerns that this may exacerbate educational inequality (in that only richer parents will be able to afford tutoring), public school advocates also caution that this might adversely impact public school funding, if more parents replace public school education with private virtual or in-person tutoring.
