The Case for a Social Distancing Wage

The Coronavirus Response Act passed is insufficient on many counts and fails to cater to the most vulnerable. The article proposes an emergency stay-at-home pay as an alternative that goes beyond traditional unemployment insurance or temporary direct payment proposals. Rather than governments helping out employers and hoping that it trickles down to employees (which often does not include gig workers), such a provision directly supports working people.
