Coronavirus relief: $2 trillion package gives benefits to gig workers

Uber and Lyft drivers and other gig workers qualify for unemployment benefits or weekly stipends in federal support under the stimulus package announced to deal with the pandemic. While it is a welcome relief for gig workers who lack a safety net, it could also absolve Uber, Lyft and other platform companies from the responsibility they have to ensure workers' wellbeing.
