Uber drivers' fight for workers' rights reaches UK supreme court

Uber bids to overturn a 2018 appeal court ruling that Uber drivers should be given more expansive worker rights including national minimum wage and paid holiday, in the Supreme Court. Former Uber drivers Aslam and Farrer, who brought the original employment tribunal case, have dubbed it the final showdown of a 5-year long battle. They believe that if the court recognizes Uber drivers as employees, Uber will have to commit more to health and safety obligations – which is more pressing now than ever.
